Believers in Feng Shui and lucky charms were advised to observe the following rituals for the Year of the Ox (2009) since the year brings the global crisis a lot closer to home. Unemployment, underemployment and poverty has been forecasted to get worse. Filipinos are advised to prepare for economic recession by minding the basics. Psychics and merchandisers give some Feng Shui tips that can help believers cope with the times ahead. This blogger advises readers to analyze the situation more deeply and to not rely on superstitions or false ideas. Catholics are likewise cautioned not to rely on these beliefs as faith in God takes primacy.
Some Tips from luck-experts:
Positive Attitude
Have a positive attitude. Overcome negatives. Write down your wishes and resolutions.
Garlic
"A clove of garlic signifies new opportunities coming into your life. Place 24 pieces of garlic on top of your dining table. This is a year-round ritual so don’t forget to replace it when needed."
Rice
Your rice container should be filled with rice.
Fruits
Pineapple, apple, and oranges were mentioned.
Clean up
As the year begins, people are advised to clean up or declutter. Broken glass and items should be removed from your house. Old clothes, bottles and items that you don't need should be thrown, recycled or donated to charity. According to Feng Shui, front doors must be clean and well lit. Doors facing north and east require some charms.
Flowing Water
Water symbolizes money. An indoor waterfalls with a Djambala treasure box is recommended.
Lucky 9
The symbol of an ox with a bell and a teapot, surrounded with bejeweled wishing crystals is to be placed at the center of your house. To attract wealth, the wearer can use a 9 eye citrine bracelet, a lettuce Peridot bracelet or a Mantra leather bracelet.
Avoid using sharp objects, white plates and wearing black or white. Use a red table cloth for your New Year dinner. Wear bright-colored shirts 15 days after New Year. Bathe with pomelo soap before New Year, use a new yellow bath towel and spray on sandalwood cologne.
Merchants recommend the following items for good luck: The Ox with Bell and Tea Pot, Brass Money Coin Tree, 8 Immortals, Silver Box, Money Yellow Buddha, Djambala Treasure box, Camel, Medicine Buddha, Money Collector, Red Buddha, The Happy Buddha Mantra, Golden Ruyi Buddha, Chong Kwei, The Animal Zodiac Sign, Auspicious Sticker and a Wealthship.
